The Wire Haired Pointing Griffon was created in the 19th century by Eduard Karel Korthals. He was a Dutch sportsman and hunter who wanted to create the ultimate hunter’s gun dog.
In 1887, Zolette was the first Griff registered in the American Kennel Club.
Griffs are all-terrain hunting dogs. They excel both on the land and in the water.
They take well to training and enjoy learning new things.
Griffs have a wiry double coat that’s water repellant. It dries quickly after a bath, a swim, or rain.
They are not hypo-allergenic and shed a little.
They need and love exercise! Griffs enjoy running, jumping, swimming, and hunting.
Griffs are known as the Happy Dog. They are playful and happy-go-lucky.
They are great with children, especially when introduced as puppies.
Griffs get along with other dogs, but small animals may be looked at as prey. It’s best to raise a Griff pup with a cat vs. bringing in an older dog.
